CUT-GRIP - Grooving Tool
High Degree of Accuracy with Groove-Turn Turning Tools
Final diameter tolerances in the range of ±0.01 to ±0.02 mm are possible when turning with CUT-GRIP and TOP-GRIP turning tools. This degree of accuracy can be achieved using the compensation factor when these parameters are constant:
• Depth of cut along the turning path
• Feed during each machining path
• Cutting speed
Maintaining these parameters provides constant forces - especially side forces - thereby eliminating variations in tool deflection that ultimately affect the final diameter. This also yields better surface quality with higher feeds than are standard with most other cutting tools.
Machining Example
The upper drawing shows a forged workpiece where the parameters vary during the roughing operation due to the differences in oversize. In the finishing operation (lower drawing) the parameters are kept constant in order to achieve the finest possible tolerance.
